About Reddogg Blogg

I have been planning to put up a website for years. This is it. The other name I frequently go by is Prosumer. The content of Reddogg Blogg will be generally clean, informative, honest, well written (no promises on grammar or spelling) and often entertaining. I’ll still have various anonymous_coward_aliases on the net with which to voice my opinion. As this alias can be tracked back to me personally without much effort, you won’t see my dark side.

Reddogg? Reddogg is a nickname I was bequethed whilst toiling in high school. As with most nicknames, it had several variations which I will not repeat here. In any case, I chose to embrace the name rather than fight it. The name Reddogg is a good fit for me actually. People are always going to give nicknames, even in “adulthood”. To short-circuit the dubious peer_naming_process I simply offer my universal nickname which is readily accepted and thus avoid other more imagantive solutions.

Double G spelling? The etymology of the words red and dog is fairly closely related, and in combination with that the sonoric and syllabic structures of… ok, ok, it’s not that well thought out. I simply wanted to be unique and have my own style. Many people would spell Redog with one “D”. *BZZZT* wrong. It’s not re-dog, can dog even be a verb? Others mistake my name as being after the beer as in Reddog. *BZZZT* wrong. Then therer is the way most people pronounce it, Reddawg. This phonetic spelling, though initially attractive, had a hick and redneck feel. Reddogg is what I settled on. My real name has double consonants in all three names, first, middle and last. You already have to have a double “D” so I thought the double “G” to be quite natural. In addition I thought it gave me an urban feel, sorta like Snoop Dogg. Oh, and putting the extra “G” on blog was pure ggenius!
