Building an AR-15
The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America states, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” My international travels, though enlightening and incredible adventures, have lead me to more closely cherish the freedoms granted to me. Since the forefathers of this nation saw fit to secure these inalienable rights I feel a need to exercise them.
I don’t need to own my own weapon to experience firing them. Many people own hunting rifles and most military personel have at least a few weapons of thier own. In fact you don’t need to be military to own a fully automatic weapon, but to be a legal owner you need to jump through many hoops not the least of which is cost. It costs a law abiding citizen 20 times the rate a criminal pays to acquire such armament. Over the last 40 years there has been much legislation created and debated around what is popularly called gun control. Without getting into the details, the only piece of an AR15 you cannot obtain easily is the stripped Lower Reciever.
I should make it clear that I am not yet an experienced firearms owner but my sources and mentors are very experienced my statements are based on thier guidance. The parts I will be purchasing are mostly from a company called Rock River Arms which is said to be indistinguishable from those made by Colt and the price is much better. All purchases were made from Eagle Firearms, Rock River Arms and Bushmaster in that order of priority. I purchased the stripped lower reciever from a local contact and also purchased a case I can use to store and secure the weapon.
