Outside the violin solo

Aphex Twin is known for a lot of great electronic music. Windowlicker the track, or rather the accompanying music video, really turned me on to AT. Windowlicker was a great juxtaposition next to the growing popularity of bling rap videos and I was mesmerized. Another track I liked by Power-Pill (aka Aphex Twin) was a techno remix of Pac-Man. The discography of Aphex Twin is a bit hard to follow because of the sporadic way albums were released and re-released. In fact in the world of electronic music, much of it is very hard to track down. Many really cool songs turn out to be a live remix… of some other artists song… that only made it onto a single… in Bulgaria. In fact there are a lot of mistagged mp3s out there, not just randomly mistagged, but popularly so.

Outside, a lesser known electronic group, wrote a track called “To Forgive But Not Forget (Lim’chol V’lo Lishkoach)” off their album The Rough and the Smooth. However, I didn’t know this awesome track by that name, I knew it by the name “Aphex Twin Outside Kick Ass Violin Solo” as done by Aphex Twin. As was stated in the Amazon.com review of this particular album by Outside,

To Forgive But Not Forget is a classic track featuring a fantastic blend of Drum n Bass and soaring violin that has been Kazaa’d around the planet, usually wrongly attributed to Aphex Twin.

Mad props go out to Anonymous who posted in response to a Tuwa’s blog entry I found referring to this exact conundrum. Many times in the past I had tried to track down the CD that had this track so I could encode it at a higher bitrate, now I know it.
