Player Haters on Capitol Hill
June 14, 2006 a congressional hearing was held: Violent and Explicit Video Games: Informing Parents and Protecting Children. I wish I could be ‘elected’ and paid to discuss things like these, then again maybe not, I don’t think I have the patience to deal with these people. There is lots to read about this subject, though finding ‘unbiased’ coverage can be difficult, I found this analysis from Gaming Horizon to be more my style.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas continues to be the focus of many politicians and the only reason I need not to vote for Hillary. Don’t get this confused, this is not a partisan issue, all politicians are ignorant when it comes to gaming. Well maybe except for (R) Fred Upton and (R) Joe Barton who confessed to playing games like Pong.
Our kids can learn a lot from this town(San Andreas). It’s a place where with a little hard work, a little hand eye coordination and the right cheat codes, anyone can work their way up from a burned out moped to owning a tank. (The Daily Show PlayStationologist, Samantha Bee)
John Stewart on The Daily Show recently featured a hilarious segment, Player Haters. It has gotten lots of traffic on typical gaming digg-sites like Joystick and editorial coverage from Game Politics. This segment on The Daily Show literally gave me goose bumps as I watched my cynicism, played out gloriously. Enjoy.
*Because Viacom, Google and YouTube worked together to wipe out almost all the Jon Stewart Daily Show content, the original video was removed. Viacom has now been forced to be mildly current with technology and also offeres embedded videos.

Excellent post, my favorite OMG part, congressman Joe Pitts says that a wealthy child is not at risk from violent video games, only the poor.
